The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) admitted that in just three months now, the government can provide the proposed P500 monthly subsidy for poor Filipino families due to limited funding sources.
Acting Budget Secretary Tina Canda echoed the sentiment of Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III who is leading the way in allocating funds for such a program as there could be funding problems in six months if the distribution of P500 monthly unconditional cash aid is continued.
He said the P500 will be given within three months from the excess revenue collected by the DOF.
According to Canda, the 13 million beneficiaries are set to receive cash aid. It plans to start distributing the subsidy to 4Ps next month.
According to the DBM, about P20 billion will be allocated for the three-month distribution of the P500 subsidy.
