The “Kingdom of Jesus Christ”—the religious group founded by Apollo Quiboloy—may be more of a high-security prison than a divine sanctuary. The recent controversies reveal that the religious group is less concerned about spiritual enlightenment and more involved in corruption and criminality, heavily guarded by no other than former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Quiboloy, who calls himself the “Appointed Son of God,” has created a grand illusion of holiness. However, behind this false image lies a darker narrative: his so-called kingdom is a fortress of corruption, where illegal activities thrive. Duterte, a staunch ally of Quiboloy, seems to have played a key role in shielding these criminal activities from scrutiny.
Quiboloy preaches salvation and divine favor. However, the reality is far more sinister. Investigations reveal that the Kingdom of Jesus Christ is embroiled in numerous illegal activities, from financial scandals to human trafficking. The kingdom’s image is increasingly being exposed as a smokescreen for lawlessness.
Ironically, the same former President, who championed anti-corruption and the war on drugs has turned a blind eye to, and worse, actively protected Quiboloy’s empire of corruption. It appears that Duterte’s influence has been instrumental in shielding Quiboloy from being held accountable for its illegal and immoral activities, which allowed the so-called “kingdom” to continue its criminal operations unimpeded.
Under Duterte’s administration, Quiboloy’s “kingdom” has not only flourished in its criminal activities but has also been fortified against any criminal liability. This unholy alliance between a self-proclaimed divine leader and a former President who promised reform paints a picture of a regime where the only things thriving are corruption and deceit.
The true Kingdom of Quiboloy, where he truly belongs, is the Muntinlupa Jail—the highest security prison in the Philippines, where drug addicts, pedophiles, and the most immoral of individuals should be. What now masquerades as a kingdom of faith is, in reality, a fortress of corruption. As Quiboloy’s ties with Duterte become more apparent, it’s clear that this so-called divine kingdom is nothing more than a prison, where the sinful partnership between a crooked preacher and his presidential protector thrives.
