Comprehensive rehabilitation of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has been completed.
Since January 2019, Sumitomo-MHI-TESP has already started the advance works and purchase of train parts and other necessary equipment for the rehabilitation project.
Some of the first actions taken by the MRT-3 management and maintenance providers have long been the problem of having a malfunction in the training facility.

Prior to the rehabilitation of MRT-3, only 14 escalators were operational on January 2, 2019, while five elevators were operational on May 4, 2016.
Three months after the rehabilitation began on August 20, 2020, MRT-3 has already completed the overhauling of all 34 elevators and 46 escalators.
In September 2020, the mainline rail renovation was completed.
As a result, 22 trains have already been deployed on the line by September 21, 2020.
Through this, the gradual increase of operational speed to 60 kilometers per hour in December 2020 has also begun.
Faster train speeds have helped shorten travel time between North Avenue Station and Taft Station.
According to the MRT-3 management, the signaling system, which is responsible for the safe operation of the train, has been fixed.

When it comes to communications systems, up to 292 newly installed CCTV units and 30 platform monitors. Also replaced with a new public address (PA) system at all stations.

Rehabilitation also includes upgrading the power supply and overhead catenary system (OCS) to MRT-3.

The MRT-3 management has announced that the comprehensive rehabilitation has been completed without disrupting the regular operation of the train and despite the pandemic experienced.

MRT-3 management hopes to improve further, including expanding line capacity through the deployment of 4-car train sets.

They aim to deliver a comfortable, safe, and reliable mass transportation system to commuters.
