The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) instructed all City and Municipal Mayors nationwide to submit a validated list of qualified tricycle drivers to DILG regional offices before April 26, 2022.
This is in preparation for the distribution of fuel subsidies under the Pantawid Pasada Program led by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
According to DILG Sec Eduardo Año, city and municipal local chief executives (LCEs) will compile a list to expedite the process of providing assistance to tricycle drivers who have been severely affected by rising crude oil and petroleum prices.
The secretary said the validated list will be the basis for the DOTr-LTFRB to provide assistance.
Año hopes that local chief executives (LCEs) will speed up the processing of the lists to ease the burden on drivers.
The Fuel Subsidy Program or Pantawid Pasada Program is funded through the General Appropriations Act of 2022. The fuel assistance is worth P6,500 which will be distributed directly to the affected jeepney drivers, qualified UV express drivers, minibusses, buses, shuttles services, taxis, tricycles, and other full-time ride-hailing such as TNVS and motorcycle taxis.
Sec Año also urged the mayor to set up Pantawid Pasada Assistance and Complaint Desk or Hotline numbers that will respond to the concerns and complaints of the beneficiaries on the list.
The secretary stressed that DOTr-LTFRB will distribute the aid to the beneficiaries.
