Quezon Police Provincial Office personnel intercepted three vans allegedly containing a ton of illegal drugs at the checkpoint on the National Highway, Brgy. Comon, Infanta, Quezon around 4:00 this morning.
According to Quezon Police Provincial Director P/Col. Joel Villanueva, at least 10 were arrested aboard the three vans.
Col. Villanueva said the operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) contacted them regarding the said contraband so they launched a checkpoint operation.
Quezon Police immediately turned over to NBI Rizal those arrested as well as the seized contraband.
As a result, Vice-Mayor L.A. immediately contacted. Ruanto now serves as the acting Mayor of Infanta in the NBI and PNP to further intensify source tracing and add additional personnel to help curb such Crimes.
The Vice-Mayor also called on the Infantahin to be vigilant in their communities.
If there is information and knowledge to trace the source of such contraband, inform our authorities immediately.
According to the Vice Mayor, there is a strong possibility that it was brought from the Pacific Ocean to the shores of Infanta and early in the morning an attempt was made to smuggle it out of Quezon.
The PNP and PDEA are now investigating the origin and source of the said illegal drugs.
