This was said by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Eric Domingo following a report that reduced an individual’s protection against having severe symptoms once infected with the virus.
According to Domingo, even if the effectiveness of the vaccine against the Delta variant decreases slightly, a person’s protection against possible death and chronic disease remains.
In fact, he said, of the total 21 cases of Delta variant at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), only 15 were mild cases, one was asymptomatic, one was moderate and two were severe and critical.

Severe cases include two unvaccinated individuals, which means the vaccine has helped prevent any complications.
So far, the number of deaths in the country due to the Delta variant has reached nine of which 216 are the total cases in the Philippines.
