The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Clark, through its continuing campaign against illegal drugs, seized 142 grams of High-Grade Marijuana or Kush worth P234,300.00 in cooperation with Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The shipment declared as “Starwars Kai Brightstar Spaceship”, which arrived on June 13, 2024, was subjected to mandatory x-ray scanning which showed an unusual image. Subsequent K9 sniffing thereof similarly showed the possible presence of illegal drugs.
Physical examination was then conducted which led to the findings of one aluminum pouch containing dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected as High-Grade Marijuana or “Kush”. Samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for Chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed that said substances are indeed Marijuana, a dangerous drug under R.A. No. 9165, as amended.
A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued by District Collector Erastus Sandino B. Austria against the subject shipment for violation of Section 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 par. f, I, and l (3 and 4) of R.A. No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) about R.A. No. 9165, as amended.
District Collector Austria commended the team for their effective profiling and scanning capabilities that led to this significant seizure. He reiterated the Port of Clark’s dedication to fully supporting Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Commissioner Rubio stressed the BOC’s commitment to safeguarding the public from unsafe imported substances through intensified border security measures as aligned with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto.
