The Bureau of Customs Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC NAIA), in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), successfully intercepted three air parcels containing illegal drugs on July 26, 2024, at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.
A physical examination of the parcels revealed 96 disposable vape cartridges filled with cannabis oil, 468 grams of kush (high-grade marijuana), and 957 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), with a total estimated street value of PhP 7,386,672.
The parcels, originating from the USA and Pakistan, were addressed to various recipients in Cebu City, Bacolod City, and Naga City.
The confiscated drugs are now in the custody of PDEA for further investigation and potential charges under the Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10863, the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized, “Our commitment to preventing illegal drugs from entering the country remains unwavering. This operation underscores our dedication to safeguarding our communities.”
Under the leadership of District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, BOC NAIA will persist in its efforts to secure our borders and combat illegal drug trafficking. #
