The Bureau of Customs (BOC) participated in the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – North Luzon General Membership Meeting on December 04, 2024, in Tarlac City to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening trade facilitation and enhancing partnerships with the business sector.
Hosted by the PCCI – Tarlac, the event was attended by members from various PCCI regions in North Luzon. The BOC delegation was led by Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, with Deputy Commissioner for the Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group Atty. Vener S. Baquiran and Deputy Commissioner for the Revenue Collection and Monitoring Group Atty. Clarence S. Dizon.
In his remarks, Commissioner Rubio expressed his optimism for a stronger partnership between the BOC and the PCCI, stating, “We look forward to a harmonious and collaborative partnership between the Bureau of Customs and PCCI in the years to come, and increased engagement between our institutions through our Customs Industry Consultative and Advisory Council.” He reaffirmed the BOC’s commitment to supporting the private sector and fostering closer collaboration. Following his speech, he introduced Atty. Baquiran, provided an update on the agency’s trade facilitation initiatives and digitalization efforts.
Atty. Baquiran highlighted key developments, including the BOC’s core functions, the implementation of new systems designed to streamline operations, and ongoing digitalization initiatives aimed at enhancing customs processes. He also discussed improved trade facilitation measures, strengthened collaboration with private sector stakeholders, and recent policy reforms that aim to improve efficiency and transparency in the customs process.
The presentation garnered positive feedback from the PCCI-North Luzon regional governors, expressing their appreciation for the BOC’s proactive steps in addressing trade challenges and facilitating smoother cross-border transactions.
The event culminated in an engaging and productive forum where Commissioner Rubio addressed questions from the members, reinforcing the BOC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in its services. The Commissioner assured the community that the Bureau is creating a more efficient, secure, and business-friendly environment.
