Presumptive president Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr., proposes   P20 to P30 per kilo of rice, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which needs to be carefully studied.
DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said it is possible to lower the price of rice to such a price but this should be studied first.
He said that in 2018, the agency also studied the price of rice and set it at P35, which is also the initiative of the DTI in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture.
Currently, the latest available data from the DA shows that the local commercial rice price in Metro Manila ranges from P38 to P50 per kilo while the imported commercila price of rice ranges from P37 to P52 per kilo depending on the type of rice..
