House Minority Leader Joseph Stephen Paduano appealed to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to first suspend the distribution of fuel subsidies to the transport sectors.
It was revealed at the hearing of the House Committee on Transportation that a major problem with the distribution of fuel subsidy is not identifying the actual beneficiaries and the benefit does not reach the jeepney drivers due to the ongoing sale of the franchise between the operators.
Paduano appealed to the LTFRB to first stop the distribution of the fuel subsidy until the issue is resolved.
The minority leader recommended that the original and official list of current operators should come from the transport sector and association.
Requirements such as drivers ’licenses, OR/CR, and franchises are also being adjusted.
New franchise holders are given one or two days to settle the franchise transfer record.
